I took Callie back from my boyfriend and though generally accepted into my colony, my own Roy boy had different plans for Callie. Again, Callie was chased and tormented and it became necessary to remove her to live with the only other cat who could relate to her plight – Chester. With consistent affection and patience and the safety of life with de-clawed Chester, Callie is once again trusting and comfortable.
By now you're probably wondering, Who is this Nicky character and when did HE enter the picture? Well, back in 2002 just after the discovery and rescue of my first two kittens Mollie and Max, it became very apparent that my then boyfriend Bill envied the close relationship I shared with my new cats (or perhaps he was just jealous of the attention they got :), and so that Christmas I decided to give him a cat of his very own to love. Enter Saint Nicholas, yet another adoption from a local humane society.
Though a beautiful male tux cat indeed, Nicky has been far from saintly, to which Callie can best attest. Nicky enjoyed the best possible life with my boyfriend in his one-cat home (after the departure of Callie) and was quite a loyal companion to the human he would never share again . . . or would he??? Though puzzled by it all, Nicky’s dad needed more companionship than Nicky could provide and Nicky was soon to gain not only a step-mom but 12 feline step-siblings, including . . . Callie! Of course, Callie would prove to be the least of our worries and 13 would indeed prove to be unlucky.
Though the marriage and “merger” seemed to be going quite well and Nicky appeared to be adapting, without warning he decided that his male step-siblings had to go and declared all out WAR! When it became obvious that his mission was ongoing, Nicky was relocated to our bedroom, where he has remained since just after the honeymoon. Well, I guess it's safe to say that the honeymoon is over . . . Though happy to still be with his daddy, Nicky appears to have no immediate plans to accept his daddy’s new wife and “children” and the saga continues . . .
Grrrr . . . hiss . . .
